Taliban financial manager killed in Afghan northern Samangan province

KABUL, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have killed senior Taliban finance manager in the northern Samangan province, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Sunday.

"Mullah Ramzullah known as Zubair, a senior Taliban finance manager was killed after security forces targeted Taliban hideout in Daikundi village of Dara-e-Sof district, Samangan province Saturday evening," the statement said.

Mullah Ramzullah was a key and notorious local leader of the Taliban and his physical elimination could prove a major blow to the insurgents in Samangan and adjoining areas, the statement asserted.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment.
