HOUSTON, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A large fire broke out on Tuesday at a refinery of Valero Energy in the U.S. state of Texas.

Emergency crews were battling to extinguish the blaze at the 335,000 barrel per day refinery in Port Arthur, about 150 km east of Houston.

No casualties have been reported so far.

The Valero Port Arthur Refinery was commissioned in 1901 and has had many process additions and improvements in its history.

The refinery is strategically located on the Texas Gulf Coast. The refinery's location accommodates its extensive logistics system, which includes access to Gulf Coast water-borne crude oil via the refinery docks or other terminals nearby.
