SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring magnitude 5.4 hit Thursday 97 kilometers northwest of Kodiak Station, Alaska, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
USGS initially reported the magnitude as 5.7.
However, there has been reports of fatality or damage from the area.
At depth of 63.2 kilometers, the epicenter was at 58.441 degrees north latitude and 153.642 degrees west longitude.
Kodiak Station is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska. At the 2010 U.S. census, population there was 1,301.
