Riga, Aug. 25 (Xinhua)-- More than 80 percent of population in Latvia does not want legalization of marijuana, a new poll shows.

The annual survey was carried out last month by the SKDS polling agency.

Eighty-four percent of respondents said they are against legalization of marijuana while only nine percent said they believe it should be made legal. Seven percent had no opinion.

Since 2010 when the poll was conducted for the first time, 81 to 88 percent of respondents have been against legalization of marijuana.

Use and possession of marijuana is illegal in most of the world, including Latvia.
