TEHRAN, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Armed Forces Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar will pay an official visit to Iran in the near future, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday quoting a senior Iranian military official as saying.
The upcoming visit of Gen. Akar aims to "complete and conclude the negotiations" held during his recent visit to Turkey, Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said.
Baqeri said that Iran and Turkey reached good agreements on border issues, as well as the conditions in Syria and Iraq, during his last week visit to Turkey.
During Baqeri's visit to Turkey last week, NATO member Turkey and neighboring Iran agreed to reinforce bilateral military cooperation.
"We have decided to expand our bilateral cooperation including the military field. This visit was constructive and will have positive results," said Turkish presidential spokesman Inrahim Kalin.
On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey and Iran have been considering a joint military action against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and its Iranian offshoot PEJAK.
