ISLAMABAD, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and 30 others injured in a blast that hit a truck in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta on Saturday evening, local media reported.
According to the reports, the incident took place when a blast hit a truck carrying some people at 9:20 p.m. local time (1620 GMT) at a busy area of Pashin Chowk in Quetta.
Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the Civil Hospital of the city.
Rescue officials said the death toll might further rise as several of the injured are in critical condition.
A state of emergency has been declared in all the hospitals in the city.
Nature of the blast is not known yet.
Soon after the blast, two vehicles, four rickshaws and two motorcycles parked nearby also caught fire.
No group has claimed the attack yet.
President Mamnoon Hussain condemned the attack and asked authorities concerned to provide best available medical treatment to the injured. Enditem
