LISBON, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese government approved a new measure on Thursday to provide disabled people with personal support workers so that they can better carry out tasks.
The government also approved a new social allowance for inclusion (PSI) that would provide disabled people who have 80 percent or more incapacity with 264 euros (310 U.S. dollars) per month.
"We want people with a disability, regardless of the kind of disability...whether physical, sensory or intellectual, to have the possibility of benefiting from the support of a personal assistant, of an aide, who can help them carry out tasks," said secretary of state for inclusion of people with disabilities Ana Sofia Antunes at a news conference.
Those with an intellectual disability or mental illness, or with a certified disability or incapacity of 60 percent or more and aged at least 16 are eligible for the support, according to the new measure. Enditem
