TOKYO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as early buying prompted by the Dow Jones Industrial Average's fresh record closing high, was taken over by selling on the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 63.72 points, or 0.32 percent, from Monday to 19,992.17. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 5.42 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,633.85.
Precision instruments, sea transport and insurance-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
