CAIRO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam on Wednesday condemned the terrorist attack on a Shiite mosque in Afghanistan that left 30 worshippers dead.
In a press statement, the highest Islamic Jurist in Egypt warned the Afghani people against falling into the trap of sectarian strife from these terrorist attacks.
He offered condolences to the families of the victims, wishing speedy recovery to the injured.
Late on Tuesday, 29 Afghans were killed and dozens others wounded as a blast ripped through a Shiite mosque in Herat city, capital of western Herat province.
Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
More than 1,660 civilians were killed and over 3,580 others injured in conflict-related incidents in the first half of the year, according to the United Nations mission in the country.
