LONDON, July 31 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.05 percent, or 3.63 points, to close at 7,372.00 points.
Severn Trent, a British water company, soared 4.09 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. United Utilities Group and Hargreaves Lansdown increased by 2.98 percent and 2.83 percent, respectively.
The multinational tobacco company Imperial Brands was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.90 percent. British American Tobacco, a British multinational tobacco company, dropped 4.97 percent. Rolls-Royce Holdings, a British pre-eminent engineering company, fell 4.41 percent. Enditem
