ABUJA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Death toll in Friday's tanker truck collision in central north Nigeria's Kogi State rose to 13 on Saturday, an official told Xinhua.

The petrol tanker truck had a head-on collision with a passenger bus in Felele axis of the state.

Segun Martins, head of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, said most of the victims were passengers traveling in an 18-seater commercial bus along Lokoja-Abuja road.

Ten people had died on the spot.

The death toll rose as three of the injured victims died while receiving treatment in a government hospital, he added.

The poor condition of roads, over-speeding, over-loading and reckless driving are blamed for being the main cause of the frequent road accidents in Nigeria.
