UNITED NATIONS, July 25 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday strongly condemned the suicide attacks that hit two camps housing internally displaced persons in Nigeria's northeastern main city.
On Monday, at least seven people were killed and 15 others were injured after two female suicide bombers attacked the camps near Maiduguri, the capital of the Borno State, in Nigeria.
Guterres called for those responsible for the terrorist attacks to be swiftly brought to justice and reiterated the United Nations support of the government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism, in a statement.
The extremist group Boko Haram is most likely to be responsible for the attacks.
Boko Haram has been blamed for the deaths of more than 20,000 people and displacement of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since its insurgency started in 2009.
