LONDON, July 17 (Xinhua) -- British shares rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.35 percent, or 25.74 points, to close at 7,404.13 points.
Ashtead Group, a British industrial equipment rental company, soared 3.42 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Micro Focus International and Antofagasta increased by 3.30 percent and 2.27 percent, respectively.
The British multinational tobacco company Imperial Brands was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.63 percent.
Experian, a global information services group, dropped 1.51 percent. The Sage Group, a British software company, fell 1.10 percent. Enditem
