China's Wang Qiang reaches women's second round at Wimbledon

LONDON, July 3 (Xinhua) -- China's Wang Qiang beat Chang Kai-Chen of Chinese Taipei in straight sets to reach the second round of the Wimbledon Championships here on Monday.

Wang, ranked 55th in the world, won her first match here with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in one hour and six minutes.

The 25-year-old lost both her first round matches in 2015 and 2016.

She will next take on either former world No. 1 Venus Williams or Belgium's Elise Mertens.
