JALALABAD, Afghanistan, June 29 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was confirmed dead as a mortar mine fired by militants struck a house in Lalpor district of Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, spokesman for the provincial government Attaullah Khogiani said.
"A mortar mine fired by Taliban rebels struck a house in Lalpor district today, killing at least a women," Khogiani told reporters here.
Investigation has been initiated into the case, the official added, without giving more details.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of the relatively restive Nangarhar province are yet to make comments.
