KHARTOUM, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Sudan expressed hope Tuesday that the United States will lift its sanction as scheduled, without being affected by the revival of the U.S. President Donald Trump's travel ban, official SUNA news agency reported.

"Sudan has achieved the requested progress in all courses agreed on with the U.S. side," said Sudan's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abul-Ghani Al-Naeem, quoted by the report.

He hoped that the revival of Trump's travel ban, which is on nationals of 6 countries including Sudan, won't affect on the lifting of the sanctions, reiterating that Sudan is looking forward to normal and fruitful ties with the United States.

"Sudan respects the U.S. right to protect its national security, but in turn reaffirms that Sudan and its government and people do not constitute a threat to the U.S. national security," he noted.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday announced reviving parts of a travel ban on people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama issued a decision on Jan. 13, 2016, to cancel two executive orders imposing economic sanctions on Sudan.

According to the orders, Sudanese authorities should present reports by July 13, 2017 indicating that the country is committed to certain terms including combating terrorism and fulfilling its commitments to ceasing hostilities at conflict zones, therefore to fully lift the sanctions on Sudan.
