PYONGYANG, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Tuesday slammed the South Korean government for calling for stronger U.S.-South Korea alliance.

"The South Korea-U.S. alliance is the noose of domination, subjugation and subordination," said the official daily Rodong Sinmun in an article.

Saying that the new government in Seoul was "professing democratic reform", the article said voices of a "stronger alliance" with the United States were still heard from the new government.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in will pay a visit to the United States this week, the first foreign trip he will take since being elected president, during which he will meet U.S. President Donald Trump.

Moon and other officials of his government visited U.S. bases in South Korea recently to show support to stronger alliance with Washington.

"South Korea-U.S. alliance touted by the pro-U.S. stooges is for subjugation to colonial domination, for a war to realize the strategy to dominate the world and for division which puts a brake on the country's reunification," the article said.

The official daily of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea also said the South Korea-U.S. "mutual defense treaty" was "the most aggressive" and "unequal treaty in the history," which allows the U.S. to permanently occupy South Korea and turn it into a military base without any restriction.

"The U.S. is the chief criminal that divided Korea into two parts and has inflicted misfortune and disaster on its nation while disturbing the reunification of Korea," it added.

The DPRK has recently increased criticism of Moon for going back on his promises to improve ties with Pyongyang and break with the policies of the former government of President Park Geun-hye during his election campaign.
