MOGADISHU, June 22 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and several others injured in a suicide car bomb attack at a police station in Mogadishu on Thursday, the police confirmed.

A police officer at the scene said a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives inside the police station in Waberi district.

"I saw three dead bodies at the police station. The incident took place when the police officers were holding a meeting at the station," said the officer who declined to be named.

The police officer said many people -- both the police and civilians -- have been injured in the latest attack in the Horn of Africa nation.

Witnesses said a local radio station, Radio Mustaqbal which is not far from the scene, was shut down immediately the bomb hit the police station.

The latest attack comes after 15 people were killed on Tuesday in a car bomb attack on a government building in Mogadishu that was claimed by Islamist insurgents.

However, the military group which frequently launches attacks in Mogadishu and other areas controlled by Somalia's federal government, has not claimed responsibility for the latest attack.
