ANKARA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- A soldier was killed and another wounded during an operation against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakir on Monday, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
The two soldiers were wounded in an operation to neutralize key PKK leaders and militants in Diyarbakir's Lice district, it said.
After being taken to a local hospital, one soldier succumbed to his injuries, and the other survived after emergency treatment.
On the same day, a village guard was found killed in the southeastern province of Sirnak after being kidnapped by PKK militants two days earlier, local media reported.
Earlier on Monday, Turkish Air Force carried out an airstrike in northern Iraq, killing six PKK militants, a military statement said.
Founded in 1978, the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the Europe Union, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation.
