Valeo launches first global research center in artificial intelligence on automotive applications

PARIS, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Valeo, France's main automotive supplier, announced on Wednesday the launch of Valeo.ai, its first research center in artificial intelligences linked to automotive applications in a bid "to contribute to the ongoing transformation of transport and mobility models."

Through the Paris-based center, Valeo wants to build "strong links and partnerships with best-in-class French and international scientific research centers" in a move to face "the challenges of the automotive cars of tomorrow," including high performing perception sensors for vehicle context understanding, advanced automated driving functions in complex environments, smart interaction with users and learning capabilities through connected cars.

By the end of 2018, Valeo.ai will host 100 specialists and become a global competence center for algorithm, infrastructure, learning process, validation and simulation in artificial intelligence for automotive applications, the French company said in a statement.

"... With Valeo.ai, our goal is to create a first-class research center that partners with the world's best laboratories in the field and actively contributes to the development of applications for the car of the future," said Jacques Aschenbroich, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Valeo,

"It will welcome our scientific partners as well as researchers and engineers who are eager to join us in this major scientific and technological adventure," he added.
