NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- A major fire engulfed a multi-story building in the southern Indian state of Telangana Wednesday, a senior police official said.
However, there have been no reports of any casualty in the incident, he said.
"The incident took place in the state's Ranga Reddy district. Some 30 people who got trapped inside the building have been evacuated by firefighters," the official said.
Local media reported that eight floors of the building have sustained major damages in the blaze.
Though short-circuit is believed to be the reason behind the fire, a probe has been ordered into the incident, the official said.
Fire incidents are common in buildings in India, mainly because of lack of regards for fire safety norms and faulty wiring.
