CAIRO, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and visiting Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stressed on Thursday the importance to resolve the regional political crises, the spokesman for the Egyptian presidency said.
The spokesman said in a statement that both leaders have stressed the importance of not interfering into the internal affairs of other Arab countries.
They emphasized that the relations between the Arab countries should be based on mutual respect, the statement said.
About severing ties with Qatar, both leaders said that the decision came after Qatar refused to stop supporting terrorism and interfering into the affairs of the Arab countries.
Earlier the week, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania and the Maldives cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing the Gulf state of supporting "terrorism and extremism."
Moreover, Jordan has lowered its diplomatic representation in Qatar.
Egypt and Qatar's ties have dramatically deteriorated since the ouster of the Egyptian Islamist affiliated leader Mohamed Morsi in 2013 in response to mass protest against his one-year rule.
Qatar hosted and funded fleeing members of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood's group which has been outlawed by Egypt with sanctuary and funds.
