KHARTOUM, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Sudan reitrated on Thursday its support for dialogue among the Gulf Cooperation Council counries as a solution to diplomatic differences, official SUNA news agency reported.
In a regular meeting chaired by Sudan's First Vice President and Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Saleh, the Sudanese Council of Ministers heard a briefing presented by Sudan's Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour on the recent diplomatic crisis among the Gulf states.
"The State of Kuwait has initiated efforts to resolve the rift among the countries of the area," said Ghandour.
"President (Omar) al-Bashir is communicating with the leaders of the brotherly countries to support the Kuwaiti initiative," he noted.
On Monday, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Yemen abruptly cut ties with Qatar, accusing it of backing terrorism and intefereing with internal affairs.
