DUBAI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said Tuesday that the essence of the Gulf crisis with Qatar was its support to "terrorist organizations like Nusra" in Syria, Libya and Egypt's Sinai peninsula.
Speaking to CNN in an exclusively interview aired on Tuesday evening, Gargash said the culmination of the spat between his country UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar "is an accumulation of Qatar's behavior in the region."
He explained "especially I would see over the last period, huge logistical and financial support for extremist groups, and to some set terrorist organisations like Al Nusra."
In addition, Qatar was supporting "some organisations in Libya and on Sinai and in some other areas. This is really the crux of the issue,"", said the UAE minister.
In the same news program on CNN, Qatar's Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani denied the accusations.
"There is no any support to Al Nusra or Al Qaeda, but we support the armed opposition to support the Syrian people for their rights, justice and their free life," claimed Al-Thani.
The Al-Nusra Front is a Salafist Jihadi group which has been fighting the Syrian government since the outbreak of the Arab turmoil in 2011.
He went on to say the diplomatic spat was based on "misinformation," reiterating that state-run newsreel Qatar News Agency's website was "hacked."
