SUVA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has written to his British counterpart Theresa May, expressing sympathy on behalf of the Fijian government and Fijian people for the latest terror attack in London.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those who have been injured," Bainimarama said on Monday.

He said that in great solidarity and friendship it pained Fijians deeply that Britain has again been subjected to a vile and cowardly assault on innocent people.

Unidentified attackers driving a van ran over pedestrians and stabbed people on Saturday night in London, leaving at least seven people dead and 48 injured.

The Fijian prime minister reiterated the same sentiments in the wake of the Westminster and Manchester attacks that Fiji stood shoulder to shoulder with Britain as it confronted the terrorist threat and was ready to assist in any possible way.
