MANILA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Magnitude 5.5 earthquake rattled Zambales Province in the Philippine main Luzon Island, north of Manila, on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The institute said that the quake, which rocked the province at 10:27 pm on Thursday night, was 78 km in depth. The epicenter was traced 83 km northwest of capital Manila.
The quake was strongly felt in Manila and nearby provinces. The institute said no damage is expected, but there will be aftershocks.
