TOKYO, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened flat Thursday morning on the yen's firmness against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 3.10 points, or 0.02 percent, from Wednesday to 19,746.08.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.15 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,574.96.
Gainers were led by information and communication, and fishery, agriculture and forestry issues, while decliners included mining and transportation equipment issues.
