KUNMING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Wednesday recaptured an escaped convict, eight days after he had fled incarceration.
Zhang Lincang, who escaped from No. 1 Prison in Yunnan on May 2, was wounded when police shot him Wednesday morning in Songming County in the provincial capital of Kunming, after police received information from the public about his whereabouts.
Zhang made his escape by stealing a truck from a site where inmates were working.
Police offered a reward of 100,000 yuan (14,490 U.S. dollars) for information leading to his arrest.
Zhang had been serving a life sentence for drug trafficking since his conviction in January 2017.
