TOKYO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, while the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar lifted exporters and the broader market.

As of 9:15 a.m. the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 88.24 points, or 0.46 percent, from Monday to 19,398.76.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.08 points, or 0.52 percent, to 1,547.85.

Construction, real estate and rubber product issues comprised issues that gained the most from the morning bell.
