PARIS, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Spain's No. 15 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas continued his hot momentum at the Monte-Carlo Masters to clinch his first ATP 1000 Masters semi-finals spot with a 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2 win over fifth-seeded Marin Cilic on Friday.
After eliminating world No. 1 Andy Murray on Thursday, Ramos-Vinolas showed no signs of slowing down as he recorded his fifth career Top 10 victory on Cilic.
Leading by a set and 5-3 in the tiebreak of the second, Ramos-Vinolas alomst slipped away the victory as his opponent turned the table in the second set at 7-6 (5), before building a 2-0 lead in the decider.
Then Ramos-Vinolas regrouped himself and took away six games in a row for a semi-finals berth. His next opponent will be host player Lucas Pouille, who beat Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.
With Murray and Stan Wawrinka out, the remaining top four seeds Novak Djokovic (2) and Rafael Nadal (4) will strive for a semi-finals clash in the bottom half, taking on David Goffin and Diego Schwartzman respectively later on Friday.
