DAMASCUS, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and six others wounded Wednesday when an explosive device ripped through a communal bus in Syria's central city of Homs, state news agency SANA reported.
The explosive device tore through the bus at the Siteen Street in the Zahra'a neighborhood, which is inhabited by minority Alawite sect, to whom the ruling elite in Syria belongs.
On March 14, a similar blast took place in Homs, when a bomb sliced through a passenger bus, wounding six people.
Last month, six suicide bombers detonated themselves in two security headquarters in Homs, killing at least 42 people, mostly security personnel.
At the time, the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front claimed responsibility of the series of the deadly bombings that rocked Homs.
