ADDIS ABABA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia and Liberia have agreed to expand and deepen their relationship.
This came on Tuesday when visiting Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf held talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn in Addis Ababa, capital of the East African country.
The two sides have inked cooperation agreements in four areas including technical and vocational education, health and medical sciences, livestock and fisheries, and industrial development.
Sirleaf and Desalegn have exchanged views on current regional and continental development matters as well as political and security issues, agreeing to strengthen cooperation and have closer consultation and coordination of positions.
The Liberian president also said the two countries would improve upon intra-Africa trade and ensure through collaborative endeavor to make Africa more competitive.
Reiterating that Ethiopia and Liberia share commonalities, the Ethiopian prime minister said they have agreed to work very closely on different areas including climate change and the implementation of reform programs of the African Union.
"We have ample opportunity to share experiences between our two countries; we need to streamline our policies towards poverty eradication and prosperity in both countries," said Desalegn.
