Myanmar, Ukraine to enhance bilateral relations

​ NAY PYI TAW, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and Ukraine on Thursday vowed to enhance bilateral cooperation, according to the President's Office of Myanmar.

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw and Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin made the above pledge during their meeting in Nay Pyi Taw.

The two also touched on improving people-to-people contacts, tourism sector development and investment opportunities in Myanmar.

Klimkin also met with Myanmar's Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Ukraine Consulate was opened on Wednesday in Yangon, the largest city of the country.

The Southeast Asian country and Ukraine set up diplomatic ties in 1999 with the Ukrainian ambassador performing bilateral diplomatic relations at the embassy based in Thailand.
