PRAGUE, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova announced in a press release on Tuesday that she has ended cooperation with coach Frantisek Cermak after her return from the US Open tournament.
Kvitova, 26, Wimbledon winner and a bronze medalist from the 2016 Rio Olympics, is currently 16th in WTA rankings. She said she agreed with Cermak to end their cooperation after returning from America.
She says that for the time being, she will train alone, as at the beginning of the season. But she added that this is natually not a long-term solution.
Kvitova had earlier terminated cooperation with coach David Kotyza in January 2016 after more than seven years, following her failure at the Australian Open.
Former doubles player Frantisek Cermak took over for Kotyza as Kvitova's coach from mid-April, after serving as her sparring partner in March.
