DAMASCUS, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem on Tuesday accused the United States of supporting the terror groups in Syria to prolong the crisis and undermine the victories of the Syrian army, according to state news agency SANA.

The U.S. is supporting the terror groups in Syria to prolong the crisis and serve the interests and agendas of the Zionist entity, al-Moallem said during a People's Assembly session.

Al-Moallem added that the "Zionist entity," or Israel, doesn't want to see the Syrian army triumphing in the war on terror, stressing that the U.S. cannot distort the victories of the Syrian army in their battles against the Islamic State (IS).

The head of the Syrian diplomacy, meanwhile, made it clear that it's too soon to declare full victory.

"There are people who say that the victory has been achieved with the defeat of IS, but in fact, it's still too soon to speak about victory," al-Moallem said.

He pointed out that the "international conspiracy against Syria is ongoing and is taking different shapes."

Al-Moallem said even though the number of countries conspiring on Syria has decreased, the terrorists are becoming more vicious in the areas they are still controlling in Syria.

The minister said that there are some groups north of Syria that constitute a "Trojan horse" for U.S. aggression, stressing the need for U.S. and Turkish forces to leave Syria.

He added that the U.S.-led war on Syria isn't over, and Turkey is carrying out a serious aggression against Syria as it wants to seize parts of Syrian territory, while Europe continues to impose unjustified sanctions on Syria at the same time as it sheds "crocodile tears" for the children in Syria.
