SARAJEVO, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Federal Institute for Hydrometeorology (FHMZ BiH) has issued a red alert for the major area of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on new snowfalls and stormy winds starting Sunday, official website said Saturday.
FHMZ BiH issued a red alert for the whole BiH for the period between Dec. 10 and Dec. 12 between 9 p.m. and 3 p.m. next day due to the very strong winds of 60 to 90 km per hour.
On Sunday and Monday, rain is possible in Herzegovina, southern part of BiH and in the west of Bosnia, accompanied by the strong with storms, south and southwest direction. Expected morning temperatures will vary from minus 10 to minus 4, and on the mountains up to minus 15. On Tuesday, mostly cloudy weather is expected, occasionally with rain. In the evening, strong winds are expected which will gradually weaken, official website said.
The BiH Mountain Rescue Service has appealed to all citizens to refrain from going to the mountains or any form of outdoor activities in following period as well as unnecessary exits from enclosed spaces.
