ABUJA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian army on Sunday confirmed three soldiers were killed in an attack on a town in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno.
Timothy Antigha, an army spokesman, said six soldiers were also injured in the attack on Magumeri, a serene town in Borno State late Saturday.
Antigha said the terrorists attempted to dislodge troops in the town, located about 35 kilometers north of Maiduguri, capital of Borno and birthplace of Boko Haram.
The gunfight between the troops and the terrorists lasted for about two hours.
Boko Haram had made bold attempts to seize the town in the past, but the group was always repelled by the government forces.
