TOKYO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Wednesday morning after Wall Street hit record highs overnight lifted by tech shares' rally which bolstered market sentiment here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 173.79 points, or 0.78 percent, from Tuesday to 22,590.27.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 10.10 points, or 0.57 percent, at 1,781.23.
Oil and coal product, machinery and mining-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
