WARSAW, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Considering Germany's huge political influence, a situation in which the country has no government may cause a certain degree of passivity in foreign policy, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski said on Tuesday.
Waszczykowski, when asked whether the lack of government in Germany should worry Poland, replied "the whole of Europe" was concerned.
"As Germany is the strongest economic state, it also has a huge political influence in the EU, NATO and the world, so a no-government state may lead to Germany being passive in foreign policy," said Waszczykowski, adding "we know how much cooperation is needed in the European Union at the moment".
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she had not thought of stepping down following the collapse of coalition talks. "There was nothing like that. I believe the Germans need stability," she said.
On Monday, Merkel announced that she would lead Christian Democratic Union (CDU) again in case of new elections.
