5.3-magnitude quake hits Iran's Ilam province

TEHRAN, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale shook Mehran city in Iran's western Ilam province at 18:53 local time (1523 GMT) on Monday, Iran Seismological Center said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was determined at the depth of 10 km, 32.923 degrees north latitude and 46.383 degrees east longitude.

People in Mehran rushed to the streets in panic following the quake, state IRIB TV reported.

The governor of Mehran, Morad Naseri, said that the earthquake had no casualties so far and there has been no report of damages, according to IRIB.

On Nov. 11, a major earthquake measuring 7.3 magnitude in the Richter Scale hit Iran's western Kermanshah province which killed 436 people and injured over 9,000 Iranians.

The earthquake destroyed 11,000 rural houses and 4,500 urban dwellings in Kermanshah province.
