SINGAPORE, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Technology Symposium of China High-Speed Railway (HSR) is held here on Friday, introducing the details of China's high-speed railway construction.

Hosted by China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the symposium focused on a series of topics, including "China HSR Achievements and its Economic Driving Growth", "Key Technologies and Innovations of China HSR" and "China HSR Operation and Safety Management".

Over 300 people from relevant government departments, enterprises and research institutions of both China and Singapore, including Ning Jizhe, vice chairman of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and Singapore's Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan, participated in the event.

According to the symposium, China has made remarkable achievements in the construction and operation of high-speed railways and has realized a leap-forward development. The latest HSR mileage in operation has exceeded 24,000 km, ranking the first in the world, and accounting for more than two-thirds of the global total mileage of HSR.

Through large-scale construction and operation, China's high-speed railway has made a series of major breakthroughs in infrastructure, system, high-speed train, safety and security, integrated transport hub and other core technologies, which formed an advanced technology system.

In particular, China has the technologies and management system to construct and operate HSR under different geological and climatic conditions, after tackling a variety of tough geological and climatic challenges.

China has successful experience in building and operating HSR in tropical regions. By building and operating the HSR around Hainan Island, a set of stringent technical standards in construction and operation has been formulated with valuable experience. These could be shared for reference in the Kuala Lumpur Singapore HSR Project, participants said.

With the rapid development of HSR, people in China have enjoyed the convenience brought by it. China would like to share it with Singapore, to help Singapore in the course of socio-economic development, Ning said.
