KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will send humanitarian aid to Iran and Iraq which were heavily hit by an earthquake, a source from the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"Kuwait was so sad at the earthquake that hit Iraq and Iran, together with its human and material losses," the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) quoted the source as saying.
Noting that Kuwait immediately contacted the governments of Iraq and Iran to offer necessary humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the aftershocks of this natural disaster, the source said "preparations are underway for coordinating with Kuwait Red Crescent Society to provide aid to quake-affected people."
The quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale rattled the border region between Iran and Iraq on Sunday night, causing extensive damage and loss of life.
