MINSK, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Belarus on Saturday tied the U.S. for Fed Cup final after the first day.
The first two games of the final match of the Tennis Fed Cup between Belarus and the United States took place at Chizhovka Arena in Minsk.
American player CoCo Vandeweghe, ranked 10th in the world, defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to put the United States into the lead.
In the second match, Belarus' 19-year-old Aryna Sabalenka, ranked 78th in the world, overcame U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens, world number 13, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The final will conclude on Sunday with the reverse singles followed by the potentially decisive doubles rubber.
