KAMPALA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir is scheduled to visit Uganda next week when he will hold trade and security talks with his counterpart Yoweri Museveni.
A ministry of foreign affairs statement issued here on Saturday said Bashir will visit the east African country for two days starting Nov. 14.
The visit is a sign of deepening ties between the two countries that were once foes over supporting each other's rebel fighters.
"Uganda and Sudan continue to strengthen their bilateral relations," the statement said, noting that this will be Bashir's second visit after attending Museveni's swear in ceremony in May 2016.
Museveni has also been in Khartoum twice since 2015.
During the visit next week, Bashir who will travel with a business delegation will discuss trade and investment, agriculture, regional peace and security as well as international matters of mutual interest.
Sudan imports 20 percent of Uganda's coffee and is the single biggest export market for the product from which about 100 million U.S. dollars is earned.
There are efforts by the two countries to improve the coffee trade, according to the ministry of foreign affairs Uganda.
