KABUL, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-two armed militants were killed and 10 others wounded during an operation in Afghanistan's eastern province of Ghazni, the interior ministry said Wednesday.
"Afghan National Defense and Security Forces launched an operation in Khogiani district, Ghazni province on Tuesday, killing 22 militants and injuring 10 others," the ministry said in a statement.
Among the killed militants was a Taliban local commander named Mullah Khalil, the statement added.
The security forces also destroyed three vehicles, two motorbikes and a militants' hideout during the raid.
In addition, at least six militants were killed and four others wounded after Afghan air force struck a Taliban hideout in Dasht-e-Archi district of northern Kunduz province, an army source told Xinhua earlier on Wednesday.
The Afghan security forces have beefed up security operations against militants as the militants have been attempting to take territory and consolidate their positions ahead of the winter in the mountainous country.
The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.
