KABUL, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani exchanged views with Russia's National Security Adviser Nikolai Patrushev here Tuesday on matters relating mutual interests including the war on terror, the Presidential Palace said on Wednesday.
"The two sides discussed issues related to bilateral relations, situation in the region, the war on terror and trade and economic cooperation between the two countries," the palace said in a statement.
President Ghani at the meeting described terrorism as a global threat, saying it was not only threatening Afghanistan but also a threat to the region and the world.
He also stated that joint efforts were needed to fight the war on terror, the statement added.
The Russian top security official, according to the statement, said his country wanted a stable Afghanistan and was ready for any kind of cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Russia also wanted to expand its economic cooperation with Afghanistan, Patrushev said.
The Russian national security adviser who heads a high-ranking delegation also met his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Hanif Atmar and discussed the security situation in Afghanistan, stability in the region, and the threats facing the two countries.
