Mareczko wins fourth stage of Tour of Hainan

HAIKOU, China, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Italian rider Jakub Mareczko from Wilier Triestina cycling team won the fourth stage of 2017 Tour of Hainan, his third victory in the race.

The route is from Chengmai to Danzhou covering 192.3km. This stage is competitive that the average speed of the race reaches 43.7km/h. Many of the cyclists have opportunities to fight for the yellow jersey today, and some riders were able to make the breakaway and maintain the lead for a while, but were eventually caught up.

Benefiting from his outstanding sprint skills, Mareczko won again and proved his ability. He retained the yellow jersey and the green jersey representing the best sprinter after the fourth stage.

Vitaliy Buts from Kolss keeps polka-dot jersey as the best climber, meanwhile, Chinese rider Liu Jianpeng from Hengxiang cycling team keeps the blue jersey.

"It will be harder in the next few days, but I'm going to try my best to win more stages, and I hope my teammates could stay united and work together for better results." Mareczko told the press.

The fifth stage of this year's Tour of Hainan will be from Danzhou to Changjiang with a total distance of 167.5 kilometers.
