NEW DELHI, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and 23 others injured in a road accident in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
"The accident occurred Saturday night when a state-run bus rolled down a deep gorge near Dethal in Kumarsain area of Shimla district," a senior police official said.
While four passengers died on the spot, those injured had been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some were said to be serious, he said.
The bus, carrying some 30 passengers and a driver and conductor, was on its way to Jeori when the accident happened.
Eye-witnesses told cops that the driver lost control of the bus while negotiating a curve that led to the accident.
A probe had been ordered into the incident, the official added.
Road accidents are common in the hilly state. In April, 44 people were killed when a bus plunged off a mountain road and fell into a river.
