MANILA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has named a staunch ally in the House of Representatives as his new spokesman.
Duterte made the announcement about his decision to appoint Rep. Harry Roque as his new spokesperson late Friday night in his home city of Davao, where Roque celebrated his birthday.
"To get the message clear, I said, Harry will fit because we speak in playful language," Duterte said.
Roque is a human rights lawyer and a law professor at the University of the Philippines before he became a House representative.
Duterte said Roque, who will have the title of a secretary, will attend the cabinet meeting on Monday.
Duterte did not say if Secretary Ernesto Abella, his spokesman since he assumed office in June last year, will be given another position.
