ISLAMABAD, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani army said Friday that an Indian spy drone was shot down along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir region after it intruded into the Pakistani side.

Military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the quadcopter was "spying" across the LoC in Rakhchikri sector. The Pakistani army shooters brought it down and the wreckage is held by the forces, he said on Twitter.

This is not the first suspected Indian spy drone shot down by the Pakistani forces. Last year in November an Indian quadcopter was shot down by Pakistani military forces at Aagahi Post in Rakhchakri sector.

Also in July 2016, the Pakistani military announced it shot down an Indian spy drone which violated the Pakistan air space along the LoC in Bhimber, in the Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

The Pakistani military argued that the "spy drones" are used for aerial photography. This time the drone has been shot down when there is escalation along the LoC.

On Tuesday, the Pakistani military said that at least two women were killed and six other civilians were injured in Indian forces' firing along the LoC.

Pakistan and India had declared ceasefire in 2003 along the LoC. However, both sides occasionally exchange fire in the area and accuse each other of violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The army's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations said earlier Friday in a statement that Indian forces have "increased ceasefire violations" and committed 1,140 violations so far this year, the highest since 2003.

According to the statement, 45 civilians have been killed and 192 injured as the result of the Indian firing. Last year Indian forces committed 382 violations, killing 46 people and injuring 150.
